Yes, I have been searching for the same topic too. I would also like to change the text color of the clock to white from black. For some reason, the clock in LXDE is white and it shows up more clearly against a transparent panel background.

I found two references but have not been able to use them here.

I change it by using css styling
format

custom-format

<span color="#402040">%a %I:%M:%S</span>
There are bold and italic tags in there.

Sorry, I did not finish that message.
Simple colour changes and styles can be done in dconf editor using custom-format (which is what I was attempting to show above).

I used to change the font face and font size using css-styling in the file ~/.gtkrc-2.0 (maybe ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini now).
Example
Quote
style "newclock"
{
   font_name = "Verdana 12"
}
widget "*.clock-applet-button.*" style "newclock"
Unlike the dconf editor changes, this requires logout/login or from a terminal
Code: [Select]
killall mate-panel and wait for it to restart.
