None of this is standard and so I am not allowed to do community iso, sorry.

And it would all be in German...  ;D

There is dropbox, just to name one    ;D

And why would German be a problem for someone born in the province Limburg/Belgium  ::)

You did this correct? If so then they might be hiding in the trees or did you make them mad and they ran off?  :D

I do believe DeBaas has the right of it.  Not all DVI cables and interfaces are created equal:

DVI-A = analog signals
DVI-D = digital signals (and can be single or dual-band)
DVI-I = integrated (digital and analog) signals.

Depending on what your monitor and video card support, if your going digital, DVI-D dual-band (if supported) is the way to go.  DVI-D does not have the four little pins surrounding the ground blade.  Dual-band will have all the pins in the shell populated (except for the aforementioned four pins around the ground blade).  I don't know if it doubles the effective bandwidth, but it makes a marked improvement in video throughput if the monitor support dual-band.

Was going to post an update I tried, but first a response to Legs11 (nice legs by the way).  No, the screen res is correct.

Previously, I did delete the .kde directory to force it to rebuild on the next login/boot.

The Desktop icons are still missing.

Will try some other stuff.

I don't see any virtual despktops, where I used to see them.

But KDE has changed over the years, sometimes, not for the better.

As far as I know   -  Just One.  I have never been a fan of virtual desktops.  YMMV.
