Command Line Interface Intro Special Edition Released!

The NEW PCLinuxOS Magazine staff is pleased to announce the release of the Command Line Interface Intro Special Edition of the PCLinuxOS Magazine. The NEW PCLinuxOS Magazine is a product of the PCLinuxOS community, published by volunteers from the community. The magazine is lead by Paul Arnote, Chief Editor, and Assistant Editors Andrew Strick and Meemaw. The NEW PCLinuxOS Magazine is released under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-Share-Alike 3.0 Unported license, and some rights are reserved.

Over the past year, The NEW PCLinuxOS Magazine ran a series of monthly articles, designed to introduce users to the command line. Magazine staff member Peter Kelly, a.k.a. critter, is responsible for all of the articles in the series. He started with the assumption that the reader knew virtually nothing about the Linux command line, and set out to walk the reader, step by step, from the command line basics to more advanced command line topics, month after month. We have collected all of the articles from that article series here, into one special issue of the magazine. We hope that it will serve Linux and PCLinuxOS users for years to come, both as a reference resource and as a way for users to learn to use the command line, as well as the value of the command line.

Available as a PDF download only. The HTML versions of each of the individual articles are available, starting with the October, 2009 issue, and concluding in the September, 2010 issue.

me too.  ;D
A cli special edition is a great idea.
I love the GUI, but having some cli skill is cool too.
Looking forward to this read.
Thanks Paul & the mag team.

Some basic things can't be done through GUI or are done more quickly or efficient.

So thank you, Magazine! :)

EDIT: Even though I no longer can get the Magazine from the regular spot. I can get it from the alternate, so I no longer care about why.

All contributors to this issue , give yourself a big pat on the back. Another job very well done.

Thank you.

Thanks, parnote, not only for this special edition but for all the great work you've done with the magazine since you came on board.

For his part, critter did a great job, too, making this a VERY special edition and a great reference tool. Thanks to you, too, critter!

Thank you for your kind comments ElCuervo. :)

Hopefully this will encourage some people to explore Linux beyond the Graphical Interface and to realize what a powerful system this is and that the command line is not really reserved for the Linux gurus but is accessible to anyone who wants to get more from their computing.
