same thing with 5.4.12, even installed to VBOX and remastered from there, copied to USB from within VBOX same result, so no worries, I'll start over with 2019.12 as a base, I'll back up etc/skel and /user/share gdm first save me some time :) just means a delay in the release. :)

I did a couple of ISOs with kernel 5.4.10 then the kernel developers released kernel 5.4.11 so I pulled the 2 ISOS and redid all of them with 5.4.11 then the kernel developers saw that I was on to their game and released 5.4.12 after the ISOs were all uploaded. Those dirty dogs! LOL

Welcome to my world Tex, I initially had 5.4.11 and then I seen 5.4.12 and thought that's typical, I'm relieved I didn't upload the ISO now, anyway I'm now running the updates, do the clean up, /etc is done so just the grub2splash and gdm theme and all done, should be up by tomorrow, if the booger wants to boot from USB on metal that is :)

Oooh, Magnum, that's my kind of ISO! Champagne for everyone!!  8)
<runs off to FTP, queues mass files to download>

Just updated the existing installed setup, and all is well... except for VMWare, which whines that it needs to "compile into the kernel" two modules, but this fails, and produces 60k error log. Total un/reinstall did not help. Guessing this is VMWare hasn't caught up to current kernel.

(VirtualBox still works fine, having received a beating last month for not updating all its body parts at once.)

Good thing I prefer VirtualBox anyway. :D

===

BTW my old setup's live-ISO has a squashfile over 6GB, and it boots just fine, so that's obviously not yet past whatever is the limit. (If any.)

PCLinuxOS has no wealthy sponsors and can only survive with your donations! Don't wait it might be too late.

Running PCLinuxOS on Pentium G4600 with 16Gb Ram using Asus H110i-Plus Mobo and 2TB SSD in M350 case (Chimpbox)
Also Lenovo B50-45 Laptop with SSD upgrade.

So a quick test.. the instant VBox thing messed 'em up, but Magnum and BigDaddy both ran perfectly from USB on real hardware. Not only no problems, but notably slick; something got better somewhere down in the guts.
