Sorry for reposting - still stuck and didn't get any answers that helped me sort this out...

I'm attempting to run R which shows up in the repository as R-base.

Runs fine from a console, but when I try to run R in a window'd environment (tk-R), the area where the text, of graphical visualization is all whited out and I can see anything - I can see text if I left click and highlight the white area in the window - otherwise, everything is whited out.

If I try to run a demo in R, again - all I see is a white blank window.

I attached two pictures to demonstrate my problem.

I have attempted to go in and configure the window manager to try and fixn this (right click on top edge of the window pane>e actions>configuredow manager....) but I got no where.

Can anyone tell me how I can change the application to display properly.

Thanks.

Hello powellga
maybe try the KDE system settings > colors
                                or _ and
                                         > application style>gnome/gtk
   might help hopefully

That's where I'd be lookin,

Good Luck

I can confirm this issue (KDE) and would be curious to hear about a solution, haven't found one yet...  :(

After playing with this for a few hours, I have made a few observations.

1. The problem clears up when switching to the plain oxygen theme using the KDE theme manager
2. Problem appears to occur with all dark themes
3. Suspect it is a problem with the way the application implements the color palettes presented to it by the OS
4. Since when using R, it is best done so through the R Studio application, it becomes something of a moot point since the tk-R console isn't really needed. I just figured this out over the weekend. The R Studio must run it's own instance of the R Console (in one of it's windows), that instance is not affected by the problem that TK-R is affected by.

Suspect this needs to be addressed by the TK-R developer.

Thanks all for your help.
