KDE to LXDE touchpad problem

I recently switched from KDE to LXDE on my ibm thinkpad r40 too speed it up a tad. But now tapping doesn't work with this desktop environment. With KDE i just downloaded synaptiks but i guess that is just for KDE so im wondering what your suppose to use with LXDE, Im quite new to linux so still learning. any help would be great.
