strange..
you could try
1. rm -rf /usr/share/apps/konqueror/
2. open konqueror then Go>Home Page and see if it works
3. Reinstall kdebase4-dolphin-4.6.5-1pclos2011
if the problem persist see if this http://www.konqueror.org/investigatebug/#http can help you


Thank you.  It now works.  I *believe* the problem was with the nameserver in etc/resolf.conf  It was wrong.  I went into the interface configuration and unchecked "Get DNS from server" and used two addresses that apparently are failsafe addresses.  i read the page at the link you provided.  Then started to get curious about the "host not found" error message. 

This has fixed it.  I guess FF doesn't use /etc/resolv.conf.

Oh yes, it does. Anything that uses "networking service" uses that information.
