gThumb can't brows folders
« on: November 15, 2011, 12:17:52 PM »
I use E17 as DE.

gThumb import dialog can't see drive content.
It only displays "getting folder listing..." message.

Perhaps it needs some additional package and setup? Or is it just a bug?
Sad, because I found gThumb suits my needs the best.

Works fine here. Did you mark all the dependencies to install with gThumb? Or, maybe you're not allowing enough time for the indexing, if you're working with a large directory.

djohnston, this works for me to.

I can brows directory tree in the left window.
The problem is with import dialog.
When I press
File > Import from... > Removable device

After this appears  window with "getting folder listing..." message.

Nothing is indexing as HD is silent.

Okay, I can duplicate the same behavior. Here's the thing. The Import from Removable Device function is intended for cameras, connected via USB cable. To browse your removable hard drive, access it from the directory tree.

Do a net search for "gthumb import from removable device" and you'll see a few bug reports from people who say the function accesses a storage device instead of their camera.

This is strange, why it suppose to work only with removable device. (well all devices are removable :-) Why restrict user from importing images from other sources.
I  just need this function to automatically organize my photos in directories by date.
