Disc size reporting in K3b
« on: November 06, 2011, 04:07:00 PM »
i download the full version of PCLinuxOS KDE 2011.09.

Why does the burned disc (in K3b) report a file size of 584 megs when the ISO is 647 megs?

I tried the disc and it works.

the size of the pclinux 2011.9 kde iso is 647 mbs

if you downloaded it form another place than this linkhttp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/pclinuxos/live-cd/pclinuxos-kde-2011.09.iso

it could be a broken file or that the file you downloaded is not complete

sometimes a incomplete file works partially but when you install it you discover problems on it

I downloaded from the link provided

http://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/pclinuxos/live-cd/pclinuxos-kde-2011.09.iso

The same link you listed....the link on the PCLinuxOS KDE page. Check sum matches.

The file size of the iso is 647.2 megs as reported in dolphin.

When it burns to disc, K3b reports that 584 megs completed and the disc was succesfully created.

i just added to jdownloader the link to that file, it reports that the file is indeed 657.15 mbs in size

what size does it report on your hard disk that same file?

if you already verified the md5 values the file should be ok, complete but be sure that the size is the same it should be

have you tried to use another burner app?  k3b is not my favorite app, i had better results with brasero

Maybe you got it from this mirror which has the wrong size for the ISO?

http://ftp.klid.dk/ftp/pclinuxos/live-cd/

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

No. I didn't. I ran it from the link that reads, "Download Full Version (Recommended)"  The checksum matched.

I just checked the disc itself that was burned. 647.2 megs. same for the iso I burned just now using Brasero. 647.2megs.

Guess K3b doesn't report the entire transfer?
