Actually I don't understand why you reopened this
thread that was related to some missed packages
and not to printing problems.
However, although some printing problems may have been existed (or still exists), you should be aware that the very same problems existed on several other distribution because of the simple fact that nearly all Linux distros are using CUPS
for printing, which in turn rely on other resources, notably hplip
, third party ppd files
. Depending on the distro (some updates early, some updates later ...) some issues may occur before or later.
From one side I see users requesting updates (newer, not extensively tested, packages but that includes new features/new printers), from another side they ask for stability (therefore some new printer may be not supported). This is a double edge sword, PCLinuxOS offer a good compromise between the two ends.
When there are some issue, as far as I can see, PCLinuxOS forum provide the best and the most friendly support available on the Linux world, at least this is my view.
I saw your thread, here:http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,97161.0.html
there are suggestions from menotu
but there is no feedback from you
.... other members are watching the open threads but it is unlikely they will add comments to your thread until you will not provide further info ... It was solved ? Is it still an open issue ? No one know about, so no one can offer further help if needed.
That said, PCLinuxOS is not only a printing system, although may be not perfect it's still very valuable, therefore I would not point the finger to PCLinuxOS because of some specific issue that may arise from time to time.
