Well, ok, but not getting sound is quite different from not being able to run it until you start skype about ten times every time you want to use it...

Have you had a look to /var/log/messages after the program crashes ? And else, did you try to create a new user, and start Skype from there, to see if something in your user account might be producing the issue ?

The only thing I can find in /var/log/messages is:

localhost klogd: process `skype' is using obsolete setsockopt SO_BSDCOMPAT

But this is the time that skype starts. When it crashes there is nothing.

I tried using another user, same thing.
Just a thought...can it be something with the package? I remember I didn't have these issues before summer.

Yes,I may add it, but what I really want is to be able to start skype ONCE instead of TEN TIMES in order to see it working.
