Comming to you Live! -- It's the only way I can....

New Mobo, Cpu and Mem , works pretty spiffy, but only from "Live" media. Using a Live usb as I type (latest as of yesterday LXDE -full), works pretty good so far. When I try to start up with the Hard drive It goes into "kernel panic", basically the exact same thing as here.

Unless someone knows how to undo what ever is doing that in less time than it takes to do a reinstall (20min?) I'm guessing that's what I'll do and hope for the best.

also tried this

It didn't really help the box, but made me chuckle ;D
Plan to be spontaneous tomorrow.

weirdwolf:

Have you tried rebuilding the initrd image of the default kernel on the installed system? The new hardware may require this. You can find the basic procedure for doing this, from the liveCD, in a chroot environment, here.

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?

Hiya O-P, Thanks for that (bookmarked and copied down), I tried that, got as far as "mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/here" and no matter what it couldn't/wouldn't find my hard drive.
Got tired of futzing around and tried to reinstall, all seemingly went well till the end when it said "couldn't write to that file (or words to that effect) and since it had already formatted sda1, well that was that. Tried it again , no luck.
Then I used my new "passport" drive and went fairly well, using it now ;). I thinking I may have a bad mobo as it has a hard time keeping my settings in bios, boot order in particular, gets old having to check the bios before I boot up everytime.
So between my live usb and external hdd I'm good for now I guess.
