Problem with gtk-themes in Phoenix
« on: October 20, 2011, 11:47:39 PM »
Hi. My problem shortly: I have set 'darklooks' theme, but not all applications obey it. For example, mousepad uses raleigh instead. How could I get all programs use my preferred theme?

Well, it seems that the problem was with theme 'darklooks'. All the other themes I've tried seem to work properly.

You may find problems with themes as applications migrate from gtk2 to gtk3.

Once an application migrates to being gtk3 based, it will (often) no longer support gtk2 themes. The default fallback gtk3 theme tends to be (old old old) Raleigh.

You will need to keep an eye out for two things, your favorite themes being ported to gtk3 and applications that port to gtk3. I'm pretty sure mousepad has already made the transition.

Make sure to change the theme in two places:

1)Settings Manager -> Appearance -> Style

2)Phoenix Menu -> More Applications -> Configurations -> GTK Theme Switch 2

XFCE can be stubborn in its support for themes > GTK 1.x
