Couldn't upgrade - now I can!
« on: October 14, 2011, 04:58:15 PM »
I usually upgrade every weekend, but suddenly I cannot, due to missing dependencies.  I guess it's because I missed the aptupgrade messages.   I don't think they were very well posted since I've only just come across them and I look at the site often.

Is there any solution other than 1. leave it as it is or, 2. reinstall from 2011 version?

How does one become a hero?  By asking a lot of dumb questions apparently! I have three computers of various ages, the most powerful is a Dell Netbook 10v; each has 2 or 3 versions of PCLOS of various vintages.  Location, St John's, Newfoundland.

You need to follow the instructions for installing and running aptupgrade as posted. Notices have been around since June with 2 reminders plus followups and a post on the front page of this website. Sorry you missed all that.

Install aptupgrade, then run it from the main menu. Then do the next upgrade.

Whew!  I thought I'd missed the boat.  I didn't realise I could still install & run aptupgrade.  All done now thanks.

I guess I should read the notices more often!  But there isn't time for everything.

Thanks Guys.

Software Announcements doesn't get that many posts. Texstar posts there only when there is something to announce - like aptupgrade.
In that (or any) section, you can enable notifications by clicking the Notify button on the Post Toolbar (top right over the list of topics). With that done, you will get an email notification of any new posts. This is simple and easy.
