Germany and France don't exist?
« on: October 12, 2011, 12:13:36 PM »
Using a fully updated Pclinuxos Lxde When I tried to change the locale today because the money program grisbi didn't want to load qif files from my French account I discovered that France and Germany no longer exist... at least not in the list of countries - including the option for 'other countries' presented by the control centre > manage localization thingy.

I tried addlocale in a terminal and yes! France was there so I chose it, but after a reboot there was no change.

Am I missing something??

Yea. Take the food, I understand. Good food is good food, after all, but why take Germany and France?

Since replies to my post were pretty wet, and since an update yesterday including addlocale 4.07 didn't make a scrap of difference I chose Belgium. Problem sloved.0

Hi castauber,
just installed the latest LXDE, did a full update, ran addlocale, and found out that there is yet another bug when testing the repos. Unless you did not specifically disable the megagames repo, addlocale would not run (will fix that now). After that addlocale will work fine, and you will have French all over the place, including the Control Center.

Btw, France and Germany are not available in an updated english-only LXDE installation. Any new country will be added only after having selected the corresponding language in addlocale. When you ran addlocale in a terminal, why did you not report the error here so we get to know about it and can fix it?  ::)

Thank you Pinoc for your reply.

When I ran addlocale in a terminal before, and chose French there was no error message just a message about rebooting, and when I did there was no change. Incidently, I had already taken megagames off my rep list.

I have just tried addlocale again in a terminal, and this time there was a lot of activity, downloading, checking /testing for updates, and I thought we were getting somewhere, but eventually an error message arrived " Failure to retrieve some language packages ( more details STEP1.list)", but I could not find any STEP1.list file on my computer...

Anyway, I really don't want to waste any more of anyone's time. I don't want to change my English interface, simply(!) certain regional things like currency, measurements, dates etc. since I live in France, also I thought it was rather odd that France and Wales do not figure in the pclinuxos list of countries - although they're in the rugby semifinals - yet Belgium and Ireland do... and they're not....
