No, they originally were, but Asus spun them off into their own company. Asrock started life as a lowend motherboard brand of Asus to compete with the likes of ECS and Foxconn.

WTH! Fry's or MSI ? Am I wrong or are you supposed to get screws and standoffs with a new mother board ? Drove an hour in the rain to go to a Frys' Electronics just so I could see what I'm getting and not have to worry about it getting beat up in shipping. They had a "resealed" open box for 3 bucks less, but I wanted an unopened one so I wouldn't have to worry about this sort of BS.  So the Big question is, any problems reusing the old ones ? If I have to drive back there , and they don't want to give me some for free, It's probably gonna get ugly, and I like to avoid that sorta thing when possible.

Seated the Cpu and looked for the board screws and the I had my "WTH!" moment

so close yet so very far....

Most of the time the mounting items come with a new case.....

I agree with wildman. I think these items are part of the case, so you would use the old ones, assuming the board is for the same case.

Well arighty then. Everything seem to be working pretty well. Some problems with kernel panic I've posted about here, but I guessing a quick reinstall will probably fix it (I hope). Will look into the overclocking and core unlocking after everything else gets to a reasonable level of un-weirdness. Just happy to be up and running.

Oh I didnt know that, well it has been 8 years ago I worked for asus and we got RMA's of Asrock back then.. But thank you I learned something new again

Have used Asrock boards for years (I'm a cheapskate. :p), and never had any issue with them. They've consistently served me quite well.

see a asrock mainboard with electrolytic capacitor go to the trash is something i do very often

of course you could change those capacitors but when one fail, other 3 or 4 will follow

new models uses more solid state capacitors so less common to see this problem but once you know that a company is known for their low quality it is hard to use them with any confidence, if they deserve it or not
