unable to install SAGA GIS - missing libraries
« on: October 07, 2011, 01:47:20 AM »
Hi,
I would like to install Saga GIS 2.0.7 (I currently have dualboot but do not want to reboot every time or run via Wine). They have only two packages – source code in (saga_2.0.7.tar.gz) and one RPM package – probably for Fedora (saga-2.0.7-1.fc15.i686.rpm). Because I am not familiar with compiling, I downloaded the rpm package and tried to install it via konsole (I am missing Kpackage a little bit). Konsole gave me this output (I translated it to English):

Code: [Select]
[root@localhost ~]# rpm -i /home/heliooos/SW/SAGA_linux/saga-2.0.7-1.fc15.i686.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
        libhpdf-2.1.0.so je potřeba pro saga-2.0.7-1.fc15.i686
        libjasper.so.1 is needed for saga-2.0.7-1.fc15.i686
        libodbc.so.2 is needed for saga-2.0.7-1.fc15.i686
        libstdc++.so.6(GLIBCXX_3.4.15) is needed for saga-2.0.7-1.fc15.i686
        libvigraimpex.so.3 is needed for saga-2.0.7-1.fc15.i686
        python(abi) = 2.7 is needed for saga-2.0.7-1.fc15.i686

I tried to find at least some of the libraries with Synaptic, but without success. Could anybody give me an advice, how to solve this?

Both files are here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/saga-gis/files/SAGA%20-%202.0/SAGA%202.0.7/

thanks much

As you want advice on installing a package that isn't in the repo this post belongs in the Advanced Users section. Or you could simply request Saga in the Package Suggest section.

(At least some of the dependencies are available in packages that already exist in the repository.)
Feed the trolls!
They need it!

Yes, I know.
For example, I found Python - however, I have 2.66 and it needs 2.7. Ok, maybe there is newer one in testing or in other repo. I also have libjasper and libstdc++6. However, they are listed in konsole as missing. The others are not in repo. I found some as rpm packages for Fedora, but marked as i686 and I always get warning that they are for i686 platform.

I will probably request Saga in the Package Suggest as you recommended.  :-\
