[SOLVED] xfce4-weather-plugin
« on: October 06, 2011, 02:12:35 PM »
When I try to install "xfce4-weather-plugin", I get the following message:

Package xfce4-weather-plugin has no available version, but exists in the database.
This typically means that the package was mentioned in a dependency and never uploaded, has been obsoleted or is not available with the contents of sources.list

Tried with different mirrors, no luck. What is wrong?

Stupid question I know, but I have to ask.  Did you hit reload after selecting the new mirror?

Also, the weather plugin is already installed in Phoenix 2011.  Are you using Phinx?

I'm on Phoenix 2011 and the plugin was installed by default. Lately it had problems synchronizing with my location, so I thought I'd remove and reinstall it. But now I can't. In synaptics is showing without a version number next to it and when I try to install it, it displays the message I described above.

I tried Force Version but when I select it, synaptics just exits...

OK;

1)Download the package manually: http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/pclinuxos/apt/pclinuxos/2011/RPMS.x86_64/xfce4-weather-plugin-0.7.4-1pclos2011.x86_64.rpm

2)Open a terminal.  Then "cd" over to the folder you downloaded the package to.

3)Enter "su" then press enter.  Then enter your root password.

4)Type in "rpm -ivh xfce4-weather-plugin-0.7.4-1pclos2011.x86_64.rpm" - Then press enter.  see if that works.
