[SOLVED] How to know how much batery left?

I can't seem to find how to do this in my new installation.  ???

Hey!  ;)  it's the aspire d255 which I bought and had to return.
I think you have a very similar one!
I'm running xfce 4.8 and it flies!!!!

You need to install a power management software. You could try xfce4-power-manager but as you can see in the following topic, it's not working as expected:

I personally use gnome-power-manager for this purpose.

also in console you can install acpitools and write acpitool -B

it will give you the information you want and more

this is a example of what acpitool can give

[john@netT6 ~]$ acpitool -B
  Battery #1     : present
    Remaining capacity : 1230 mAh, 63.80%, 01:28:42
    Design capacity    : 2250 mAh
    Last full capacity : 1928 mAh, 85.69% of design capacity
    Capacity loss      : 14.31%
    Present rate       : 832 mA
    Charging state     : discharging
    Battery type       : rechargeable
    Model number       : 3780 mAh
    Serial number      : PA3731U-1BRS

it tells me that my battery already lost 15% of the maximum capacity

add the battery plugin to your panel ... it will show you all the needed stats to your battery
