wap2
« on: October 04, 2011, 07:36:41 AM »
wap 2 do not work.

I received as a gift a LapTop, by other word a used MSI Laptop.
My dear wife use an Asus LapTop and it works well in our wireless
network.
Unfortunately with the MSI LapTop cannot wap2 be used. System
offer wap2 enterprise. By that wireless networking is inpossible.

My question is, what must be done? For getting the MSI LapTop to work in
a wirless network, where login require wap2.

WPA enterprise usually uses a backend authentication mechanism such as Active Directory credentials or a self generated certificate.  It's not surprising that a non corporate laptop would not be able to connect.

Are we talking about WEP2 or WPA2 here?

i think you mean "WPA2" and not "WAP2", right?

WPA2 has two modes, personal and enterprise. The pclinuxos networking tool does not have the GUI was of setting up WPA2 enterprise and you will have to manually ending some text files to access a WPA2 enterprise network.

Most home users use WPA2 personal. Why is your network using WPA2 enterprise?

Your wife computer uses linux or windows?

Can    you confirm your wireless network is using WPA2 enterprise and not personal?

open the terminal and run "iwlist scan" and a list of wireless networks should show up. Look for your wireless network and then copy and paste its section here.

As You can see, Huawei dongle seems to be the only sencible solution to be used.
WAP2 wireless can not be used.

wpa or wap?

wap is internet for old cellphones, extremely slow, 5 kbps

wpa is the type of security on wifi

do you need a wifi or a huawei 3G modem to work

this post is confusing

Can I jump in here??  Was just going to make a new thread but saw this first.

I also cannot connect to WPA2 (personal key).  I used to be able to connect a couple months ago, then an upgrade rendered my connectivity futile (and I had to change our work router back to WEP from successfully running WPA/PSK for 2 years).

I cannot connect to my home wifi network (WPA/PSK), nor can I connect to many internet cafe networks (ones that are running WPA/PSK).

Something is borked.  My computer is a work/productivity computer, and I do not have the luxury of reinstalling.

Any ideas??

(My computer's wifi card is a Broadcom BCM43225 802.11b/g/n using the default drivers as set up by PCLOS.

Thanks for any insight/help you can give.
