KimToy for KDE 64-bit - need help testing
« on: September 29, 2011, 09:00:36 PM »
KIMToy is an input method frontend for KDE. It is a standalone application, has no dependence on plasma. It aims to provide a stable and intergrated frontend for Asian input method, such as FCITX, SCIM and IBUS.

If you use an Input Method such as FCITX or SCIMon and your system is one of the Test 64-bit KDE, I need your help in testing out this RPM package and send your feedback on this thread.

Although KimToy is now version 1.1, I've only managed to package 1.0.1.

Thank you in advance and for reading.

It has installed okay Archie, and is running as a Process, but as I never have any need for this, can you advise where (which app/system/theme etc) I should check or do you need an Asian language installed?

Edit: Just noticed a small icon - about 1inch long - on the desktop but it doesn't actually do anything when selected, by using either the left or right mouse button.

Thanks for testing, menotu. And yes, you will need a locale similar to Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, etc. and the toggle should be CTRL+SPACE. The small, 1-inch icon should expand and where one can make a selection of the cryptic character, and this is where the real test would be.

It had become much difficult to set up SCIM and FCITX with later versions and the only success I had with it was back in version 2007.
