To make Dolphin the Default File Manager go to:

Configure Your Desktop >> Workspace Appearance & Behaviour  >> Default Applications >

and make sure the File Manager option is set to Dolphin.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking for.

Do you mean you want Dolphin to open when you right-click in the FF downloads window and select "Open containing Folder" or do you mean something else?

Terry.

Maybe the solution won't work with newer FFX? Or maybe he didn't followed that topic close enough ;).

Dunno ;).

Yes guys thats what i m trying to do. The thing is that i followed the guide from the link by editing the mimeinfo.cache file, but with no results. Its not that i cant do my job with konqueror but im trying to figure out why i cant assign dolphin to do the job  :-\

I once tried to edit all three files in /usr/share/applications with mimeinfo:
  • /usr/share/applications/defaults.list
  • /usr/share/applications/mimeapps.list
  • /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache

Then it worked; but I don't know yet how it works (I'd think the mimeinfo.cache is regularly cleared, while the other files are more permanently (only changed when installing new software for example...)
But that's just my opinion -- maybe someone around with more facts?  :)

This topic seems to have not been solved over a year ago.  I have had this problem for quite some time but just ignore it.  Used to be I could right click "open containing folder" in a FF download and it would do that.  It no longer does that - nothing happens.  I did the recommended handling in this post and the linked post and it didn't fix it.  Any suggestions?

Also, I used to be able to just open the downloads folder and what was downloaded was there which is why it wasn't THAT big of a deal but now when I open the folder the new DL isn't there "yet".  It will be later and I haven't figured out what makes it become visible eventually but by the time it does I've gotten distracted and just grumble.  This must be related.
