Just to humor me, what happen if you run your test using the "NX200" and set the printing to Draft

That was my normal setting, I always change the default to draft.  Colours were misaligned.

I think there may b a margin problem too, but I cannot tie it down at present, could be an OOo update problem and I really don't have  much time with this moving lark coming  up.

Howard

Thanks, for test my barrel of possibilities are looking rather low  ;D
In the previous post where the
Code: [Select]
[xxx@xxx howard]# lpoptions -p Stylus-NX200 -l
exercise took place.  In each line (they may be wrapped) you will find a * in front of some names, for example PaperSize *Letter, the star indicates you set value as of the time you used the statement.  This was where I noticed the Standard was set in one and Draft.  Ok, they have now both been checked with Draft

Very perceptive noticing the possible margin offset.  I did notice the possibility when looking in the *.ps files. I decided the difference was so small, but I did not check the units, that I would not foillow up on this.  How did you notice the possible margin problem?

Seeing what you were getting at I just tried my "Fred" test with economy, draft, standard. high, and photo.  Colours misaligned in all of them.

I noticed the margin problem when trying to print in brochure format from OOo.  When I had problems I went back to an old brochure and found that that didn't print right either - no longer properly centred on the sheet.  BUT brochure settings are quite tricky and I was using a newer version of OOo, so it could be a change in OOo.  This was with the TX200 driver.  I can see a way to check this - but no time at present, so consider it a "possible" problem.

The Bad news:
Finally I decided to go looking for the difference between GutenPrint 5.2.6 and 5.2.7 normally something I do when really desperate.   ;D

http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/files/gutenprint-5.2/5.2.7/

..
 5) Correct printing to the EPSON Stylus NX200, NX215, SX200, SX205,
     SX210, and SX215.
..
..

Well this takes it out of my area for the moment.  I have interpreted above section that with the upgrade to 5.2.7 specific changes to make those printers do the right thing was made.

You were unlucky to have an NX200 and has proof something still needs a fix, at least when using the simplified driver.  Seems it is matter of pray and wait til it gets fixed once more.

Seems the Stylus series printers were added to Gutenprint 5.0.1 or close, The TX200 and NX 200 mentioned and obviously something must have been wrong with the NX200 and a few more as it gets above note with the latest upgrade.

Getting too complicated for me.  Learnt a fair bit on Epson Stylus and Gutenprint that I did not know.

Good luck  :)

Yes, I agree, let's leave it to the Guten-people as they do seem to be aware of the problem.  Although the odd thing is that when I was happy with it they decided it needed fixing and screwed it up!  (If it ain't broke don't fix it!)

I am now fairly sure that the margin problem I had with brochure format is to do with the OOo upgrade from 3.2 to 3.3 - another example of the same!  Other people have reported a similar problem on the OOo forum.

Looking better and better for you.
Let me know if you get more interesting problems. I am still unable to figure out why you have a difference between the NX200 and TX200 driver. Perhaps if more problems show I can get that sorted.

They are operational equivalents.  However I would have to move to a complete LXDE system and I don't have this installed on my experimental workhorse presently.  So I will make an attempt to forget the problem.   ;D

Not just LXDE.  I did a quick installation of KDE, updated it and had the same problem.  Anyway I can work around it.  Thanks for trying, I'm off to bed. (We are 12.5 hours apart)

Hi folk,

Thanks Howard for posting this query, i have the exact same problem with the SX200 using KDE4.  At first i thought it may be the change to the updated kernel, but no.

The photo's now print as they should thanks to the TX200 driver installed via the browser, so a result and it saves having to uninstall gutenprint then reinstall from the cd.
