well same as p^h, my system started to play sounds at login all by itself, so I really didn't do anything to fix it. So should I mark this solved , even tho I didn't do anything to solve it ??
If Firefighters died and went to hell, they would just put it out!

If start up sounds are working, then it is solved, regardless of how it was solved.

Just thought I'd add that my LXDE system just started playing startup sounds a few days ago.  I didn't set it up that way, or make any changes, it just started doing it on its own.  I get a Windows-like sound at boot, and again when I log on.  Now I need to figure out how to disable it!   :P

Paul

Same as enabling. Open lxdecc > System tab > GDM Settings >>> Accessibility tab. Remove the tick from the 3 login sounds.

Thanks Neal - I remember now - the last time I updated in synaptic, I noticed new files for lxdecc being downloaded.  Probably a few changes there causing the sounds phenomenon.  All is good now - thanks.

p^h,
An lxdecc update could not have fixed your sound. It is a control center only. That is, it is used to launch configuration apps; it does not control sound or any other part of the system.

What else was installed at last update?
Can you see in Synaptic > File > History, maybe we find a solution ;)

I just updated my laptop (running the same PCLOS LXDE setup as my main pc - here's the log file: as I noticed before, new files for LXDECC were installed).  I don't have access to my other pc, but will look at the history when I get the chance.

Just to be clear - my machines started playing startup sounds a few days ago on their own.  Using Neal's solution, I unticked the sounds boxes in lxdecc.
