I was wondering what become with the old programs that are the basis of the Linux distros, and if the two said programs are supposed to fill the same target ?

http://www.balabit.com/network-security/syslog-ng/
To compare closer if some of you are interested, this is the version which we use actually, it is the latest available:
http://www.infodrom.org/projects/sysklogd/download/sysklogd-1.5.tar.gz
here is the link to the last syslog-ng sources:
http://www.balabit.com/downloads/files?path=/syslog-ng/open-source-edition/3.2.4/source
The website "balabit.com" is very business oriented... :/
