Neal - thanks for the pics.  Currently playing around with them.  As for a BlackCat theme - could get interesting!

Mélodie - added the right click menu to Tint2.  That now allows someone with an obscured desktop to open the apps menu by - right click anywhere around the edge of the desktop, or right click on the tint2 panel, or key "W-space" as per conky instructions.  Spoilt for choice ;D.

I have also decided to list the user manuals as urls in a browser bookmark, as most of them are pdfs - convenient but bulky.  This also means I can put in html manuals, which can be tricky to store.  Allows the user to download as they wish.  Also saves 40mb of space :o ;)

If you find you need any other graphics in creating your themes, ask. I will help. Or you could ask any community artist. We are blessed with some excellent artists.

It used to be in /usr/share/docs/HTML. We delete all docs except the HTML directory. :)

You could use a template. I had done one... don't know where it is now. Maybe you would want to look at the source code of that page. You need to know a few html tags to use it as a template. <p></p>, <a href="" /a> and so on...

Hi Mélodie,

No, what I meant was that saving html manuals off the net is tricky in that they are often spread over a number of pages and can be a right bugger to download and save in some useful way.  If it is all one page I can save it as a pdf - if they are multiple pages it means downloading each one individually.  On my Mac a few lot of years ago I had a piece of software that would save a website to your hd, and you selected how many levels it would go down.  Wonderful stuff - pick a page, and then tell it to go one link on, and presto! - there it was in html format - home page and linked pages one level on.  Haven't found anything since quite like it.  So it makes sense to link all of them through the browser.

I don't have any problems with coding in html - I do everything raw and can't deal with editors.  Sometimes the "easy" way is the "hard" way ;D.  By the way, I put the browser home page in /usr/share/docs/HTML.  Seemed logical!

Taco, the soft you want has for name httrack. It has a bug, see at the broken package section to see how and if it is possible to use httrack.

Wow, cool!!  I've downloaded it and giving it a try.  Wading through http://www.httrack.com/html/fcguide.html to figure out its workings.  Just what I need - more homework :D

Please let us know if you get it working. The repository package is currently broken.

Hi,

djohnston, I have tried the version from the repository, and here also it segfaults. I just tried to get the sources from the site, and once the "configure" and "make" performed I started the binary script from the src directory and that works. Now I will install it, and see if it also behaves well once installed .

Regards,
Mélodie

PS: "make install" ends with this error : "mv: cannot overwrite directory `html/html' with non-directory"

It used to be in /usr/share/docs/HTML. We delete all docs except the HTML directory. :)

Does that mean I can clear out the /doc folder apart from /HTML where I have the browser home page?  That would save almost 14mb!

You do mean /doc, not /docs?

NEW UPLOAD

I have uploaded a revised iso, and have edited the first post with the new link.

Just a bit of fine tuning.  The tint2 bar now auto hides, and right click on it open the applications menu.  The volume icon defaults now to a slide, and right click opens gnome-alsamixer.

The user manuals are now bookmarked links in a bookmark folder in the browser.  The size of the folder with pdfs was getting too big, and it is really awkward to convert or setup html files if you have to download each page individually.  You will see what I mean when you look at some of the html sites.

Extra NGC catalogues were added to Skychart.

After playing around with various wallpaper ideas, I have decided to stick with the original for the time being - although I have changed the colour to more of a blue.  Makes the panel a bit easier to see and just generally lightens things up a bit.  The wallpaper needs to take into account the amount of space conky occupies.  Logos and and the like need to placed to counterbalance that, and at the moment I just want to make sure the mechanics are working.

I think that's about it - should have made a list!

Enjoy.

Hi,

I can't take time these days for it, but have you done something to ensure the users will get the credentials in the live version ? And get rid of them once installed ?
