E-17 no more ???
« on: September 09, 2011, 11:45:12 AM »
Gentlemen,
I browsed the PC Linux OS site, and, for my surprise, I didn't find the E-17's section. Instead, there was the new Open Box section.
Ok, I like Open Box, it's a nice WM and one can make a nice DE with it. But, what about E-17 ? Did Mr. Reynolds drop the support for it ? Folks, tell me it's not true, since E-17 gained my heart and mind, and I'm very fond of it.
Best regards

Updated isos created by a community member are currently on a server in the backseat of a car being transferred from Oregon to Alabama.

Try again later please.

Linuxera will have the server back up on Tuesday. Her E17 Remasters will be available then.
When she gets it back online, the url is:

Almost but not quite.  I'm having a time of it with MediaCom.  I can connect to the internet with dynamic IP, but not static IP addresses.  They were supposed to have this resolved by 7pm Central time, but so far it's not working.  Sheesh!!

What's the difference between Summer Fairy and Black Myst?

The theme and nothing more.  I really liked the black theme and as usual, Agust had done such a fine job I created an ISO with it.

I am going to update barebones or create a second barebones ISO with the 2.6.32.24 kernel if it is still available in the repositories.  Burjans had brought up an excellent comment in an email about the latest kernels draining the battery on a laptop rather quickly.  I have both kernels on my laptop and he's correct.  The older kernel does make the battery last a lot longer.

I installed  Task-enlightenment on PCLinixOS 2011 and found that using my mouse scroll-wheel that I can roll the Firefox screen up and down like a shade is this true of all windows? Apparently not, can't do it with Calc Window.
Cheers. Ray

Depends on what you are loading PCLOS on to.  If it's a pc then I would say the latest kernel that works well with your hardware. If it's a laptop and you depend on the battery, I would say the 2.6.32.24 kernel.  YMMV

Thank you. I'm making a remaster for the netbooks/laptops of my son new friends at school. The kids are very impressed by PCLinuxOS.

I will keep it simple at first, one remaster with KDE4 (some like eye candy) one remaster with LXDE or e17 (for the rest) or both, haven't decided yet  :)

I'm getting the barebones ISO for my lappy.  Does that kernel support Intel Centrino wireless adapters?  If not, what do I need to do to get them working?

By the way, what's the Updated-SF-E17.iso?

I wouldn't think you would have any problems with wifi, but Hootie and his gang would be the experts to ask in that case.  Could be a specific package you could download from the repositories on that.

Updated SF-E17 is the Updated Summer Fairy ISO I created just before leaving Oregon.
