[SOLVED] Firefox/Thunderbird link handler qestion

1) Start Firefox from the desktop (NOT by clicking a link in Thunderbird)

2)  In Preferences->Advanced->General click the "Check Now" button and set Firefox to be the default browser

3) Make sure the "Always check to see if ... on startup" is unchecked

TerryN (and DJohnston), I don't know how you do it, but it worked! 

I have only tested it for a few minutes so far, but if it sticks, it is indeed a done deal.

I you have the time and feel so inclined, would you mind telling me what lead you to this? I have been over this thread several times now, and I can't for the life of me see any hint of this being the issue... 
And don't tell me you just got lucky, I know better, he he.

Anyway, if this sticks over a reboot, the case is solved!

No CLI smarts, no coding fu, just trial and error. It worked for me. I figured it would work for you.

Same here.  I also noted that PCLinuxOS installs Firefox with the "Always check..." option disabled by default.
