set up DVI1 monitor
« on: September 18, 2011, 05:42:53 AM »
Hi,

I have a LG M2062D monitor with a maximum resolution of 1680 x1050, however my resolution seems to be stuck on 1600 * 900.  In PCC the monitor and resolution is set as 1680 * 1050 but in Configure my desktop this resolution is not an option.

I get the following form XRandr
Code: [Select]
creen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1600 x 900, maximum 4096 x 4096

I think this is because I am connected by DVI cable rather than VGA, is it possible to get xorg.conf setup to recognize my DVI cable?

Cheers

You look under configure your computer (pcc) > hardware > configure video card > resolution > other ?

If you set here your settings, it should work...

kde likes you to set first pcc

then kde, in kde should be listed what pcc accepts, it has always been like this for me

what video card do you have?

HI

Done a bit more digging and it looks like the monitor has a ratio of 16:9 so that makes sense with the 1600:900, but should be able to get a resolution of 1920:1080. When I set it using xrandr it works with the follwoing code

Code: [Select]
xrandr --newmode "1920x1080_60.00"  173.00  1920 2048 2248 2576  1080 1083 1088 1120 -hsync +vsync^C
xrandr --addmode DVI1 1920x1080_60.00
xrandr --output DVI1 --mode 1920x1080_60.00

I tried adding this to etc/rc.local, but it didn't change the resolution on start up, only when I clicked the rc.local file.

I have PCC set to 1920*1080, but this does not come up as an option in config desktop or xrandr.  I have an ‎Imtrl Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller

Is there anything I can do?

Cheers
Rob
