Wi-Fi connection randomly stops [Viewsonic vnb101]
« on: September 02, 2011, 08:05:51 AM »
Hello, I am running PCLinuxOS 2011.6 KDE on my viewsonic vnb101 netbook and everything's been working great except for the wi-fi connectin management. So basically my problem is that my Wi-Fi connection stops randomly for completely no reason, it just says "network is down on the eht0 interface". That's strange, because as far as I know, Wi-Fi is running on the wlan0 interface, and I've actually never used wired connection on my laptop.
so here's some additional info

iwconfig
Code: [Select]
lo        no wireless extensions.

eth0      no wireless extensions.

sit0      no wireless extensions.

How often does this happen? In an hour for example.

What do you have to do to restart it when it disconnects

Have you tried disabling the wired interface? You dont use it and it disabled may remove the confusion the network program is getting.

Well this isn't happening that often, maybe 1 or 2 times per day or two.. something like that.
When it disconnects I have to manually configure my network again (add the key, type of encryption & etc) which is very annoying.
Would you tell me how to disable the wired interface, please :) Thanks.

start pcc (pclinuxos control center) -> network and internet -> remove a connection and then remove the wired interface.

Use your computer normally and see if the problem is still there,

What kernel are you using?

open the terminal and type:  "uname -r" and post your result.

Thanks, I removed the eth0 interface.

My kernel version is 2.6.38.8-pclos1.bfs
