Well, next time I get to try vls I might just try that too.  Good move.   :)

Hope you may enjoy vlc, I have tried but not got it 100% but I am not very interested in video/audio so I don't put much input into getting it right. Just try something else that does work at the time.

I would like to add one more point here. After removing all the vlc config files from my home directory VLC played those HD files pretty well. A few minutes back I got further boost in vlc performance after enabling "Direct GPU rendering" in VLC settings. Though the player says this feature is experimental, it's been a smooth experience so far.
two things in this world i love the most - first, my son piyush, and second, pclinuxos.
