I do believe that your issue is related to your Marvell controller, known as a problematic one. You should report back where is physically attached the SATA hard disk, as appear that there are at least 2 SATA controllers on your system ... (I can be wrong here due to incomplete info ...)

No, I can't be 100% sure because I don't have the physical hardware at hand, however the link I posted report exactly the same IDs, to me means should be the same hardware... so ... I'm reasonably sure.

luikki,

Most of your missing gigabytes are easily explained: diskdrake (in PCC) reports the sizes in traditional binary gigabytes (nowadays called gibibytes); most hard drive manufacturers report them in decimal gigabytes, because that gives them slightly bigger numbers. (Which also means that diskdrake shouldn't really use the abbreviation GB.) Now, 232 gibibytes is very close to 250 decimal gigabytes.

Danneh, on the other hand, does have an unallocated space of 32 GB, whether that means 32 real gigabytes or 32 gibibytes (32 000 000 000 bytes or 34 359 738 368 bytes). Why diskdrake doesn't see that space is the mystery.

I think he should first of all check if gparted can see the unallocated space, create a partition out of it and format it.

Danneh has been asked repeatedly to set the SATA controller mode to AHCI and so far, has not properly indicated that this has been done. Until that is done, Linux can not see the hard drive at all, and therefore the installer will continue to report their is no suitable media found.

You, DeBaas and as are right of course. I thought diskdrake could see the rest of the drive, even if Danneh wrote "it can't find anything(excluding USB devices) to install on to, including the HDD".

Stupid me.

Nor a chance anyone here would agree to that. We know better. ;D

The thread has gotten off track because Danneh has not responded correctly to the various requests made for proper information. Until he does, the rest of the information in the thread is moot, as far as he is concerned. Other readers may learn a bit, but the problem that is the main thrust of the thread will get no closer to a solution until he starts responding correctly, and provides some useful information.

Having had this exact same problem I am going with these dudes. Turning off the AHCI until post installation is what needs to be done first. Having it on is just bad mojo ATM.
Linux is perfect, let's stop developing it.
