O-P,
I think mcik said that we should downgrade firefox from 7.0 to 3.6 to fix a security issue. LOL Imagine that. Use an outdated browser to fix a security issue.

If I could have reached that conclusion on my own, I could have added... "so we can laugh at what you actually said, rather than what we imagined you said."

Yea? You really didn't see that? ???
LOL The last couple rows of words was the clue.

I run Firefox 6 on PCLOS/LXDE and no problems at all for me.
PCLOS LXDE (Desktop 1)
Debian 6 (Desktop 2)
PCLOS OpenBox Bonsai (11 year old laptop)
XP (at work :s)

Welcome in a world without walls and fences, who needs windows and gates ?

Didn't look very hard. Never do when all that's present is an endless unpunctuated text blob.

Hi,

You are ALL outdated. ;)

My firefox is 6.0.2, does not crash, and will be very soon outdated ! Firefox 7 is out ! :D

To joseppi : You must Update You Systems Regularly, when You are Using PCLinuxOS !

The reason is PCLinuxOS is a rolling release distribution. Add to this it's the most reliable/stable rolling release out there, so don't miss the updates ! Please read here : http://www.pclinuxoshelp.com/index.php/Update_Your_PCLinuxOS

I don't know if these are the types of crashes being discussed. My FF is 7.0.1. The last few versions, starting with 4, occasionally crash. I notice that if my downloads window is on top and I right click to save another link without bringing the source window to the front, it will shut down all instances of Firefox. I never use tabs. Also, if I'm trying to save another link when the "Downloads Complete" notification pops up, it will crash. I ordinarily run without Javascript enabled.

This might be a Gnome issue. I'm still using Gnome 2. Other than that, everything is updated via Synaptic as of last Monday. I don't have Facebook.

As long as I can get the window focus and the timing right, it won't crash. Just my two cents, adjusted for inflation.

My understanding is that Chrome handles that type of crash a lot better that Firefox as I believe it "sandboxes" each Window instance.

I don't use Chrome. Or Android. My ludditism dictates that Goodle should ONLY be a search engine, AT&T should ONLY be a phone company, and that it's usually bad when huge companies try to take money from other huge companies by getting away from the specialized areas that made them huge companies to begin with. What's next, Nike as an internet provider?

Hi,

What can make Firefox crash are plugins. If you deactivate all your plugins and activate them again one by one, you might find which one makes Firefox crash.

You can also start Firefox from a console (as simple user !) and look at the messages in the console. And you can also take a look into your file $HOME/.xsession-errors : sometimes a plugin causing trouble can appear there with some error messages.
