What can make Firefox crash are plugins. If you deactivate all your plugins and activate them again one by one, you might find which one makes Firefox crash.

Hope it helps.

........oh.........i was going to state an easy way for above:  in FF 7.01  under "HELP" at the top....there is an option to :

"RESTART with ADD-ONS  disabled"....

But you already did that i think.  :-\   i'm thinking you got a corrupted file somewhere.   Did you try OPERA or IRON?  and do they crash?

I had some crashing problems with LXDE 2011.06 with upgrades....but reloaded with 2011.09 and haven't had any since...and i do think prob was with FF and not PCLOS...

something is related to video card (hard or soft)... try to remove any dkms-nvidia drivers you have installed from synaptic repos and then reboot and try FF again
hope it helps !

Uhmm don't I need these?
I checked in Synaptic and there are three of these files installed.
I think only the last one (GeoForce 6+) applies to me.
My video card is a GeForce 7900 GT OC.
If I do remove them what will happen when I reboot?

first disable Desktop 3D effects (no compiz)
then remove them ( any dkms-nvidia packages)
also you can remove any x11-driver-video-nvidiaxxxx too
just leave x11-driver-video-nv and x11-driver-video-nouveau untouched (installed)
then reboot
the X Server should  start normally

tested on my pc with a N-Vidia FX6200 (older than your card  :) )

I updated Firefox to version 8.0 a few days ago and it hasn't crashed since.
Normally when I make a post like this FF will immediately crash on me, so I guess I'll know soon enough if updating to FF 8.0 will solve the mysterious crashing problem.

Well all was just fine until tonight, when FF crashed not once but twice.
The second time around I could not re-open FF, I kept on getting the error notification popping up instead - Logging out didn't solve the problem, I had to restart.

I guess my next step is to remove the dkms-nvidia packages and x11-driver-video-nvidiaxxxx files.

Sigh.
