Why I get frustrated.  :'(

I reported in my last post I booted to XFCE from the ISO on the USB.  FF kept going off on me.  Then I got stuck.  Nothing would move.  Could not Ctrl/Alt/backspace or Ctrl/Alt/Delete.  Nothing moved.
Just had to go to the button and turn whole thing off.

I booted again from the USB this time into LX.  But when I got there my mouse was frozen.  I could Ctrl/Alt/Backspace and get in but mouse was still stuck.  So I did a Ctrl/Atl/Delete hoping to reboot.  But up comes a small box that said something like "Control Manager of something"  And the boxes just kept multiplying.  There must have been 25 or more scattered around.

I finally had to shut down with the button.  :'( :'(

Then I sat down and rested ....... then mopped the floor.

While I was resting and out of the blue, my husband shows me a flyer ad from Office Max about some CD-r.   I hadn't even mentioned I was looking for anything. (I was going to gently mention the fact   ;D  )  I looked and in the same ad was:

Memorex 16x DVD+/R  50 pack now $12.99.   Is this what I need?  If it is, it seems a better price than what was in your links.  What would I do with 50?    ??? ???

As far as I can understand all this issue are due to the LOW RAM.

Yes, there esists two DVD types: DVD-R and DVD+R ... both should work, generally I found DVD-R less prone to problems ...

Then it seems the link referring to Radio Shack with 5 DVD-R for $6 something might be the better investment.  I see it also has the cases with them which the 50 pack was only on spindle.  Plus 50 is not practical.

I guess I could always send the extras to T6.  ;D ;D ;D

I misunderstood some posting and am back to clarify.  When I posted the site about the 50 DVD, I had no idea about - or +  (still don't).

as, I thought you meant the site I posted about .... that those would not work because they were the plus kind.  So I have been searching for the minus kind.  Called the store and realized that I could either get the + or - DVD R

So unless I hear back from anyone saying "NO don't do that!!", tomorrow I will purchase 50 DVD -R disks.  ;D

I thought /  I don't know what I thought.   ???

(Definitely need more RAM/brain)  :P

when the firsts DVD writer units come out on the market there were two different standards (+R) and (-R), after few months all new drives were designed to work with both standards, so that today we can choose the standard we prefer  :D

I recall a post from old-polack which said something to the effect that one type is much more reliable than the other (+ or -).

I would suggest searching for the post .....

OK, I searched and old-polack says the DVD word a lot of times but I missed it if he said which one is preferable.

But then I never have had any luck with searching.  :(
