So you consider changing the operating system because one app is not working presently on your install?   ::)  ???

Launch kget from a terminal and post back the output ......  complete with command  ....

KGlobal::locale::Warning your global KLocale is being recreated with a valid main component instead of a fake component, this usually means you tried to call i18n related functions before your main component was created. You should not do that since it most likely will not work

Ignore the messages. Look in the system tray for this icon;

If it's there, kget is running. Click on the icon to see the kget window.

Forget the .tar.gz archive and simply install rarlinux through Synaptic, from our own repository. The current version in the repository is 3.9.3, but should cover your needs. Being a rolling/dynamic release distribution, we don't recommend any installation of applications from other than our repository, as installations from outside our repository may conflict with other applications. All of our packages are tested, to work well with each other.
