Desktop Icon Text
« on: August 21, 2011, 04:53:15 PM »
I have PCLinux  KDE on my desktop machine and it works great.
Recently became the proud owner of an Asus netbook with something called Windows 7 on.
So that got uninstalled and I tried KDE on the netbook.
Worked fine but a bit sluggish.
So I have installed LXDE and and it is running much much quicker, and a damn sight cooler too.
I have had a few installation problems but I have resolved most of them.
However I could do with a bit of advice on this one.
I have Gimped a neat light gray wallpaper with the LXDE logo on in black with the bird in chrome.
I changed the desktop icons text to black to match, but it insists on having text shadows which look awful whichever colour I choose for them.
For the life of me I cannot figure out how to make it accept the icon text with no shadows.
Help!

...Of course, when you get it all pretty, you'll share it?  ;)

And welcome. LXDE rocks netbooks! (EeePC701 4G, fully installed to an SD here)

After many hours I gave up with the shadows.
Apparently it is impossible to remove them in LXDE, and so I gave up.
Uninstalled LXDE and installed XFCE instead.
It also goes like the wind compared to KDE.
In fact I am so chuffed with it that I may put it on my desktop as well.
In the meantime here is the LXDE wallpaper.
