Krisbee, the computers you are quoting are now both working properly!! Check out this total thread so you can see the help I got.

PS. What was your "failure" anyway?

Why did the upgrade fail for me? A good question, unfortunately owing to my error of overwriting the ISO of my orig install, I can't give any feedback on the cause.  It appeared to download everything OK, with the final message re. root shutdown via init 6 etc. But on reboot the boot process hang a some point.

I have 4 computers with PCLINUXOS, so far I have updated two, the update worked on one and the other failed.
I had downloaded the new version and installed it on the unit where it failed.  The re-installation was so fast that I will do the new install on my two remaining unit.

Note that if you do a new installation, you will need to reinstall all other programs you has installed.

I just have one comment, who chose such an ugly splash screen?  It resembles the hideous black tiled screen of a few years ago. Did we not learn from our previous mistakes?

I'm more interested in knowing why we lose the splash screen when we update.
I had to reinstall it!
