64 bit test working good
« on: August 17, 2011, 09:00:08 AM »
I cannot seem to locate a feedback thread, but i keep checking the mirrors (waiting for gnome) and i happened to see the 64 bit test iso that went up yesterday. I downloaded, burned, and ran, and it works good!! I have not tried every application, but so far everything is really smooth.

System Specs:
Biostar K8VGA-M
AMD Athlon 64 3700 + Skt. 754
Seagate SATA
NVIDIA 6200

Once again, working great on my system. (BTW please please please don't subject me to gnome 3 when the PCLOS gnome version comes out. I had the horrendous experience of gnome 3 on the last release of Toorox, and i really hope that gnome 2x continues.)

Hi TLM - testing feedback isn't done on the the forums, it's done through the pclinuxos-testers group via email.

And trust that if ever GNOME 3 is implemented on PCLinuxOS, Texstar or anyone picking up on the community remaster will do a dang good job with it. I am positive that the reason it isn't in PCLinuxOS yet is because Texstar think it should be in PCLinuxOS. Now, how's that for a call?

Hello,

This message for Menotu.

It's a great news to see that the new PclinuxOS 64 is in testing.
I have downloaded the iso and read your reply.

But for subscribe to pclinuxos-testers, i am waiting on approvement of my subscrition : the message of Google is :
"Members must be approved before joining the group".

So when will anyone be approved ?

For a few month, i have tried to subscibe but the message from Google was always "Your application is pending and has not been approved by the group manager."

Thanks for your reply.

Hervé

Hi Hervé - have you tried joining since?

BTW, I am a just a simple  ;) member of the testing group and have nothing to do with approving applications etc - I just help test the apps that go into testing area and report back with my findings.

Good luck.

I wouldn't join something in Google, sorry.

Nevertheless I'd want to test the 64 bit PCLOS. How or where can I get the .iso?

distro.ibiblio.org/pclinuxos/pclinuxos/live-cd

ISO = pclinuxos64-test01.iso

The fastest one for me this morning (8 minutes vs. over an hour on ibiblio) was http://debian.ethz.ch/mirror/pclinuxos/live-cd/... plus it lets ibiblio rest.

The test group is all well and good, but I can't see the harm in having as many people as possible join in the fun. Everyone just needs to remember it's still in testing.

Good point - I didn't realize it was going to the mirrors thus I used the ibiblio link.
