Torrent Clients Not Working
« on: August 16, 2011, 10:41:10 AM »
Is anyone else having trouble getting transmission or deluge to load torrent files? I've had this problem with both the openbox and lxde desktops now. I've never had this issue with PCLinuxOS KDE or any other distro/de.

Are you downloading or seeding?

Is your firewall allowing them in/out? (the Openbox PCC firewall settings are slightly different to KDE)

Could it be your ISP blocking them?

Well, I know it's not the isp, as i've used it before. What's happening is when I click on a link and choose to open it in transmission or deluge it says ok but then it doesn't add it to the program. every step works except for it actually adding and downloading the file. very weird.

Have you tried KTorrent? (can't recall but I think it's installed by default)

I tried adding the torrent every way possible and it still didn't work. Also it wouldn't work any Transmission, Deluge, or Ktorrent.

I just tried Transmission in LXDE and it works.  First, I downloaded a torrent file to my downloads folder.  Then, in Transmission, opened that torrent file & the download worked perfectly.

I use transmission a lot on LXDE. I don't start a torrent download like that, though. I download the torrent file to a local directory. Then I start transmission and open the downloaded torrent. Works every time.

No KDE apps are installed by default in the LXDE release. They can be installed, if desired.
