Just installed latest version of Phoenix and updated via synaptic immediately.  When running lomanager 3.5.2 to install LibreOffice I get a message that my system needs to be updated. Since the system is up to date and this is the first run of lomanager I am confused. What do I need to do to fix this?

lomanager told you to look for more info in /tmp/LO_STEP00.log or something similar, so the content of this file should give you more clues. What is written there? Or have a look at the command line option explained in point 8 here, e.g., run
Code: [Select]
lomanager --no-updatetest

Hi, mroach49!  :)
Your lomanager is right: your System is NOT up-to-date.
But, your System is non upgradable, too.
Because the needed update cannot be installed. Sorry.
Which way to resolve?
Simple: you need to remove the problematic package from your System!
What is that package?
Simple: it is named:

xfce4-weather-plugin

So, open your Synaptic and search for the xfce4-weather-plugin and remove it.
After, recharge the package-list in Synaptic. After that, close Synaptic.
Closed your Synaptic (and NOT before!), you can launch your lomanager successfully.

Thanks guys.  I used pinoc's solution and lomanager is currently running and installing LibreOffice.  I will uninstall the xfce weather plugin which will hopefully prevent any problems with future lomanager updates.

There is no need to remove xfce4-weather-plugin to allow lomanager to run!

The problem is that xfce4-weather-plugin is pinned but it is not pinned correctly. The installed version is 0.7.4.1-1phinx2012
As root navigate to /etc/apt/preferences and you will see the pinned version is incorrect, the second line needs to read and should be altered to

Code: [Select]
Pin: version 0.7.4.1-1phinx2012*
Save and exit and exit from root!

lomanager will now run correctly and update/install LO!

lightning slinger - Thanks for the education.  I will add it to my knowledge base.  Since I don't use the weather plugin and do not intend to in the future is there any downside to simply uninstalling it?

No! Not if you don't use it!
