Thunar loading time [Solved]
« on: August 09, 2011, 02:58:48 PM »
Quick question - Has anybody had issues with Thunar taking up to five seconds to load in XFCE 4.8?  It's not a huge deal, but I cannot seem to isolate the cause.

it's because of the use of gvfs ... and rather than like nautilus or pcmanfm ... it actually waits until everything is usable before drawing the window ...

Thanks Sproggy.  I had a feeling it had to do with external partitions that needed to be mounted.

Thanks Sproggy.  I had a feeling it had to do with external partitions that needed to be mounted.

If that's it, I can relate, although I'm not using XFCE. One of my external USB drives automatically goes into "sleep" mode after a period of inactivity. No matter what file manager I use, or CLI, it takes about five seconds to come back out of "sleep" mode.
