Hi,

Thanks Jeff !

To all : PCLinuxOS Education can also be considered among the Openbox collection as built on Bonsai. Feel free to test it ! :)

I did the install a little while ago, i'm still looking around and messing with stuff. I like it a lot so far. Very well designed and laid out. I also like having Tint 2 and its wizard in by deafault. Manually installing and trying to configure it in other openbox offerings can be a bit of a pain. The main things i'm seeing so far that I have issue with, is that I would have liked to see the Nitrogen wallpaper manager installed by default and I can't for the life of me figure out how to change the icons. I know i've done it in Openbox before so i've got to just be missing something. Also I can't seem to get torrent working. I installed both Transmission and Deluge and neither of them want to add and start downloading the file when downloaded. Overall great job though. I'm definitely appreciative of having this preconfigured on an install-able live disc.

Hi,

I have tried nitrogen the past months and it appears to be very much outdated.
What is wrong with Deluge ?

icons:you can edit ~/gtkrc-2.0, then ~/gtkrc-2.0.mine, or use Lxappearance which will edit one of theses for you. ( provided you installed a new set of icons, of course, and provide the right icon set name if you edit by name yourself... )

It's Deluge and Transmission both. Neither will add the torrent file to the application for download. I've never seen this issue with either of those programs before. Very strange. And good call on Lxappearance. I don't know why I forgot about that.

Hi,
Start deluge and or transmission from a console, and bring back the full outputs from console, please.

Hi Melodie,

Is the 14-Aug-2011 Bonsai considered a final or the 2011 final for Bonsai ?   Wanted to
ask and doublecheck and be sure as I thought some addt'l testing was being done, or the icon
package was still a possible addition, or the menu was being changed also for that.   Can't see
any real problems in the forum since then.

Thanks,

Hi,

From my point of view, it should be considered as a final. Otherwise, I sent Texstar a mail a few days ago and I am waiting for an answer since.

Any new improvements from my part would anyway have to wait at least for next quarterly because now I am busy on important personal stuff.

I hope you find everything you are expecting from Bonsai in the 14-Aug-2011. :)

Thanks for the response.  Probably should wait for his reply before posting some release news on the
Usenet then about Bonsai, or the others.   Let me know then.

Sure, and that might be soon because I got a mail from Texstar yesterday about it. So I answered back and gave more informations (Edu and full being ready since 10 days ago, and the isos that changed directory also).

Is there anyone who could provide a detailed description about PCLinuxOS Openbox 2011 ?

Something such as djohnston did so well here for the Education version:
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,94160.msg791923.html#msg791923

The kernel is the same, Lxpanel is the same, administration tools are the same.

The one VERY new thing, that only this one flavor of PCLinuxOS provides, is a full Libreoffice suite already installed, and said by some testers to be working in the Live CD.

If someone would be willing to make a full description, that would be very nice.

Thanks !

I tested after our chat Bonsai and it worked great. Really good work you have done. But Openbox 2011 did not work for me. The same usb stick I used to make livecd of KDE/Bonsai PCLinuxOS worked with out any problem. Livecd of Openbox 2011 did not fully work. It was stucked in bootsplash. Before writing guest password. Any clue how to solve this?

Running PCLinuxOS on my USB. PCLinuxOS went bang on me. I have X-u-b-u-n-t-u on my laptop for now. Will give PCLinuxOS a try in the feature.

Hi,
The first idea that comes to my mind is that the iso has been compressed very much with the new xz compression and that it takes time to decompress.

I suggest you press the Escape key to look at the messages hidden behind the plymouth image. Tell us what you can see ?

I will report back when I play with openbox livecd. Now I have other things to do.  ;)

Hello Crow !

Thank you ! We just have to wait for the PCLinuxOS Education to follow the same road. I hope you could manage to find some time to start it on your machine.  ;)
