Openbox versions 2011 08
« on: August 09, 2011, 01:35:43 AM »
Hi,

Here they are:
http://tyruiop.eu/~melodie/Downloads/ISOS/PCLinuxOS_2011/Openbox-2011-08/
pclinuxos-openbox-2011.08.iso 682M
pclinuxos-openbox-bonsai-2011.08.iso 262M

(one in French too... pclinuxos-openbox-bonsai-fr-2011.08.iso 299M)

The Edu will come soon.
Theses are the last you can test, then I will write a mail to Texstar to tell him that it is ready.

Many thanks to all testers.
Regards,
Mélodie

PS: Links changed:
http://tyruiop.eu/~melodie/Downloads/ISOS/PCLinuxOS_En_2011

for the 3 Openbox versions in English and
http://tyruiop.eu/~melodie/Downloads/ISOS/PCLinuxOS_Fr_2011

for the versions in French.

Note : only the English version of Openbox full has Libreoffice default installed. On the French version it was not possible to make it fit under 720 MB, and I didn't want to remove other things so the French version has Abiword and Gnumeric as in the version of last year.

Hi Leiche,

It's working here, I had to increase the number of repo sync age days from 5 days to 10 days,  as their haven't been any updates recently.

Mélodie,

I've got both OpenBox and OpenBox Bonsai installed and running in VirtualBox.  The only thing I've noticed so far, is in the full OpenBox.  The livecd login background screen, with guest and root passwords, still appears.  I'll install both versions tomorrow, to one of my machines for further testing.

Jeff

Edit:  I'm sure your aware of this, apt-sources-updates is not in the full version of OpenBox.

Jeff, Leiche's talking about the apt-sources-update package, which is a different one than update-notifier.

Hi,

I think Jeff also. In Bonsai Update source manager may still be there (although not available in the repos), but Update notifier is probably not installed.

Yes, I am aware it's not. It is in Bonsai because I forgot to remove it : as long as a new apt-sources-update is not in the repos, it might not be a good idea to leave it in.

Leiche did more than a dozen test versions in 2 days, I tested all minus one, tested by AS and Neal. Good ideas came out of that... I still have an option to test that Leiche sent me by mail 2 days (or 3 ?) ago...

If you also want to do and follow this one testing... just say ? :)

The login background screen : perfectly right ! I forgot to restore the "mv" process between background.jpg and background2.jpg in the post install part of the rc.sysinit script. I corrected that last night after I saw your post, and re-remastered. I can make the new one available in one shot, it's on the remote server, but just not yet on the public side...

Maybe will I let the people test further (at least one day) before switching isos ? :)

Code: [Select]
[root@localhost]# wicd
Traceback (most recent call last):

Hi Melodie,

Wicd seems to be having trouble getting into the system tray where it is called up.
VLC goes right in.   I wonder if this is a dbus we need or a problem similar to Clementine.

Hi Ferdes Fides,

No idea... I never use wicd as for me it has never worked, whatever distro I used. I fear you may have to wait for other people to get into it with you.

djohnston,

Thanks, but I'm already aware of this.  I followed along last week, while I was on vacation.  By the way, I don't have update-notifier installed.

Mélodie,

I've installed Bonsai to my HP slimline for testing and all appears to be running fine.  I'll install the full OpenBox, once I have access to your updated ISO.  For now, I'm still testing it in VIrtualBox.
