"Brasero seems to have a problem. I am assuming it has something to do with being a gnome program."

no, gnome is not the problem

the problem could be the burner that gnome doesn't use properly

I have had no luck with any of the gnome burning programs. When I burn an iso in k3b ,it comes up with an error but the dvd still plays fine very puzzling.

machine came up with a hard drive full error today while in the process  of copying a image of an os.The default location was home folder  . I made a new folder in my /home directory and  moved all my images to that folder thereby clearing out the home folder . Now everything works perfectly. It has even speeded up booting and desktop work

Glad to hear.  Would never have been able to remotely diagnose that one.
