Yes. Your primary group should be the same as your username. If your username is tom, your primary group should be tom.

What follows is just my personal opinion.
There is nothing wrong with the burning in K3b.
You can verify this by burning twice.
Once with K3b and once with any other burning program
When you are finished, you will find that the total bit count on both DVD is exactly the same

I have done this 3 or 4 times, every time with the same result.

It is my opinion that K3b spews out that error message in error !
Why...?
I don't have a clue about programming, so don't ask.

As said before, it's personal, and I will continue using K3b with the greatest of confidence.

Anyway, good luck with your efforts. Maybe something comes out of it !

No, you are not alone.
On other forums ( distros ) they also have talks about the same, with no solution.
Please note again, It's My opinion.
It's not based on technical know-how !

yes, others have reported that k3b is not what we need it to be

this is why i recommended brasero but it is not the solution for everyone

Thank you all for your assistance. Let me try a different approach. Is there a good program in synaptic to use as an alternative in the new kde desktop. Brasero seems to have a problem. I am assuming it has something to do with being a gnome program. It comes up with a not a blank dvd error of some type.I am not on that machine at this time so excuse the vagueness of the error

It comes up with a not a blank dvd error of some type.

It sounds as though you are trying to write to a DVD that already has data on it.

Not always.
I had it several times with brand new DVDs or CDs.
However, in all fairness, they were a cheap quality ( as in $2.-- for a pack of 10 for CD and $3.-- for a pack of 10 DVDs ) ( Ssssh, Princo )

I have had good experiences with Gnome Baker.  It is not s to simplified and easy to use.

I hope you come right.  :)
