k3b write error
« on: August 07, 2011, 01:16:30 PM »
Good Afternoon,

I have a rather off situation . When I burn an image in k3b it comes up with a write error at about 99% yet the dvd plays perfectly. Is their something I have not loaded or has anyone else had a problem like this

the 99% problem with isos has been mentioned before but i can't remember a solution

i do recomend to use brasero because k3b sometimes refuses to work in many systems properly

I thought that error had gone with updates .....  is it still present on an updated system?

K3b shows that error only when burning DVD ISO's.
However, if you tick the 'verify' option, it does not deliver that message and finishes normal.

Further more, I have verified that the total bit count is the same for a Brasero burned and K3b burned dvd-iso.
With bit count I mean : open the DVD in filemanager and use ' properties' to look at the volume.

That's how it goes on my hardware.

I checked verify option but to no avail. If you have any other ideas I would be glad to try them

TM, what version of K3B are you using?  A simple help->about will tell you the exact version number.

By the way this version was loaded as part of the newest pclinux . Is it possible that I should remove it and reload from another repository. If so can anyone suggest the best repo to use

Hi Tom. I think you must have clicked on "About KDE." I'm fully up to date and my K3b shows "Version 2.0.2"

Are you a member of the CDRW group under users?  Go0 to PC Control Center-> Manage Users, then select your user, and what groups you belong to.  I do not have this in front of me at the moment, so I cannot give you exact terminology.
