In migrating from PCLOS 2009.1 and then to 2010 , Brother DCP 7020 shows up in printerdrake list but in 2011.6 only shows up as Brother DCP 7025. Installed that and rebooted. Now popup notifier shows DCP 7020 installed and online, ready to print.

Sent test page, front panel shows "receiving data"  briefly, then back to "sleep", but nothing printed.

Tried adjusting properties but nothing
Tried localhost:631 but nothing. CUPS shows printer installed but selecting allowed users in drop down menu does nothing.
lsusb shows Brother DCP 7020 detected.
Tried installing both via printerdrake in PCC and also via pop-up in panel
Tried wizard using .ppd file from disc

Checked out this thread  -> http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,79077.0.html  but don't think it applies to me.  I have a Samsung 2151N that I installed later (via pop up) that all users have access to and works fine.

This appears to be a permissions issue but not sure where to set permissions.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Apparently, DCP-7020 multifunction has moved out of the printerdrake database as of pclos2011.6 because it is properly configured in pclos2010. It's possible that the printer is indeed installed and ready to go but since printer front panel indicates "receiving data" but does nothing, seems to indicate driver and not permissions issue as I first thought.

Curious because the DCP7025 .ppd file is what's on the printer disc so it should work but no luck either through CUPS, or printerdrake. Never had much luck with CUPS web interface even going back years. The CUPS interface is rearranged and a little more informative but accessing functions is not intuitive. There seems to be no "do it" button. I can select things "to do" from drop down menus but there is no "ok- now do it" button. Both Brother and Samsung are now installed but can't print test pages or anything from CUPS interface. Both printers seem fine from LibreOffice and other apps.

Decided to install the old fashioned way.

I  d/l 'ed the lpr, CUPS wrapper and scanner drivers from Brother Solutions Site and installed via instructions (as I had done in earlier versions of pclos and mdv) and all seems well, so will mark this solved. The only deviation from Brother instructions are when checking if printer drivers are installed, terminal will not confirm the installation. Also, setting scanner for normal users is already implemented.
