[SOLVED] pgadmin3 seems broken (again)

I've been running pgadmin3 1.10 for some time. However I have not used it for a few weeks.
My system is a completely up to date LXDE.  I have tried re-installing it and even deleting/installing it.
Running it in a terminal gives the following:

pgadmin3: relocation error: pgadmin3: symbol _ZN21wxMemoryFSHandlerBase19AddFileWithMimeTypeERK8wxStringPKvjS2_, version WXU_2.8 not defined in file libwx_baseu-2.8.so.0 with link time reference

I can only assume that wx got updated recently, but I can't find it in the synaptic history.
I have also searched the forums for pgadmin3 and wxgtk,  there are plenty of threads but none seems to have a solution.

Any clues?
