Internet Connection

I am wondering how many PCLOS users connect directly to the internet and not through a NAT router, which most (if not all) has a firewall built in.

For those who are unsure if their PC is visible on the internet, check the IP address issued to your PC .....  in KDE hovering over the network icon in the panel will provide it.

Out of the 8 machines I have several that are connected directly to a public IP through my switch. the rest of the machines are going though a router and are a private network.  And yes all my machines do sit behind a hardware firewall.

Just for clarity for me please .....  those PCs which do not use the router, do they have a non-routable IP address or a public IP address?

I have heard that ISPs do not issue multiple IP addresses, although I have been using two myself for quite some time.

The reason for asking was prompted by some posts in help threads ......  so responding assumed a direct connection and others assumed a router in place.

I wondered if I could get some idea of % of each for PCLOS users by asking.

Got for the moment only 2 PCs , both connected to the internet through a 8 port intelligent switch.
When connected, both have a different IP address.
When rebooting any of them, the IP address changes.
Have about 123 different IP addresses a week....

edit: I am using a Huwai modem ( something like that )

Not sure what you mean. sorry.

My IP address looks like 124.121.4x.6x 
Other times, it's also 124.121.xxx.yyy
or
115.69.24.153
or
115.xxx.yyy.zzz

Since all of them can access other sites, I guess other sites can access me
